21st Century Visions, Signs, and Wonders

Image
Throughout the Bible, God tells us that He will pour out His Spirit on all flesh and "men" young and old will see visions, prophecy, and dream dreams ( Joel 2:28-30 , Acts 2:14-38 , Romans 15:17-21 , Daniel 6:26-27 ) Recently the testimony of a young man, at 25 years old, experienced what sounds to be a 20-30 min encounter of heaven and hell. This young man was not ill previously but physically experienced cardiac arrest, stroke, and seizures on Earth while spiritually experiencing hell and heaven. While I have heard others speak about similar life and death experience throughout my life, there was something so powerful in this young man's testimony. The others came with a "preachy" type of testimony, reminiscent of damnation messages that scare people into salvation. The young mans testimony hit me different. It was not verbose or eloquent in words. He did not whoop or holler, thumping Bibles. This was just a real, raw, and basic account of his experience....

More Than A Digital Divide

Shelter in Place has moved us from traditional school learning to distance learning. Since I have our youngest in the house, the difference between the two, isn't much for our home. Outside of the social aspect for our son, I have essentially converted our front room into a mini classroom, fully connected with a laptop and Zoom account. We've been able to participate regularly in Distance Learning, without any issues. I fully understand that a lot of families don't have the ease of setting things up this way. Many are struggling with the stress and pressures this pandemic has caused, particularly because they cannot work, which means they cannot buy essentials. No income means, no extras or barely the basics. Our school has been awesome in supporting our students. This, to me, is one of the tangible differences in being in a Charter School. The ability to govern and allocated resources for our students and families. Our school fills in the gap or more accurately, c...

When a Call Isn't What You Expected

Image
Let me be clear, I don't have any stalkers. I also have a call filter on my phone. The call I'm speaking about isn't one on a video or phone device, but the whisper of God calling me to draw closer and do. Full transparency, I know I haven't been operating in the true gift God has given to me. I have strengths. Strengths that have measurable success. Strengths that can be crossed-over from the job site to the church site. Over the last couple years, I have felt that I haven't been doing what I am supposed be doing in both. So, I sought the Lord. I asked God, break me and re-build me for Your purpose. Now, I don't believe the work I've been doing isn't of God. I have dutifully served to advance the Kingdom. God honors obedience (1 Samuel 15:22) sacrifice, and humility (Matthew 18:4.) His grace has been sufficient in this season. This season, my family has been blessed despite growing pains - I mean it could be much, much worse; my peace has grown, my ...

It Was All A Dream...

April 4, 2020 It happens pretty often. A Notorious B.I.G. song comes into my head as a narrator of my life. Even if it is just for the moment. It's something to solidify that moment in my mind. Right now, we are historically on week 3 of a Shelter-In-Place mandate here in California, to alleviate the spread of COVID-19, also known as Wuhan Coronavirus. There is a current pandemic sweeping the globe; most of the World is on lock down, too. Currently, I'm sitting at home with my husband, our youngest, and our dog while the other kiddos are spread throughout the Bay Area and up to Washington State. For me, it's been over 4 weeks of quarantine since I was hospitalized February 29th, 2020 for a thyroid storm. Yes, this autoimmune issue, Graves Disease, peaked and ruined my well-planned 50th Birthday celebration in Lake Tahoe for Jimmy. A dream deferred... ah, I digress... I also resigned from my job of 8 years during that 5 day episode. Remind me to create a...
